Butz Choquin, founded in 1858, is located in Saint-Claude, France, a village nestled in the heart of the Haut Jura Mountains, Freehand Pipes made by Butz Choquinnot far from the Swiss border. Current president Jean-Paul Berrod represents the fourth generation to run the company since his great-grandfather founded it. The Butz-Choquin factory is still important. The factory co-operates with all sorts of master-designers and master-pipe makers which leads year after year to new designs. At present the Butz-Choquin assortment is one of the largest in the world, counting over 1,500 shapes in almost every imaginable finish. The main production are series of pipes in unity prices. Next to this, also the hand made pipe is still produced by the more skilled labourers that finish pipes up to top qualities. The top quality pipes have the mark BC in gold, lower in range is the silver marking while the ordinary pipes have a white logo. In numerous series of under brands the factory sells their rejects. In the mean time also the brands Dr. Boston, Chap, Claude Romain, Bontemps and Jima belong to the Butz-Choquin factory.
